WhatsApp Activity in CRM

Your players are already on WhatsApp. The question is - are you meeting them there in the right way?

WhatsApp Activity lets you send targeted, automated messages directly to players’ WhatsApp accounts as part of their journey. Whether it’s a bonus reminder, event notification, or re-engagement message, you can reach players instantly in a channel they actually use.

And unlike traditional messaging tools, this isn’t just about sending messages - it’s about building structured, trackable communication flows that drive action through conversion-focused messaging and measurable conversion optimization.

Why It Matters

WhatsApp is one of the most responsive communication channels available today. When used correctly, it can significantly improve:

  • Player engagement;
  • Conversion rates;
  • Retention and reactivation;
  • Campaign performance visibility.

With WhatsApp Activity, you move from generic messaging to precise, event-driven communication that fits naturally into each player’s journey. These dynamics create a scalable framework for personalized player communication powered by structured WhatsApp marketing automation.

How It Works

At a high level, WhatsApp Activity is integrated into your Journey Builder (JB) flow.

Once configured, it acts as a step in the journey:

  • A player reaches a specific stage;
  • The system evaluates conditions;
  • A WhatsApp message is triggered.

From a system perspective, each message follows a clear lifecycle:

  • Sent to provider – successfully delivered to WhatsApp;
  • Not sent – blocked due to validation or delivery issues.

This flow is visualized directly in the activity configuration (see the diagram on page 2), making it easy to understand what happens after a message is triggered.

Built on Approved Templates

WhatsApp messaging is template-driven - and that’s a good thing.

Instead of free-form messages, you use pre-approved templates tied to your WhatsApp Business account. This ensures compliance and consistent message quality.

Each template can include:

  • Dynamic variables (for personalization);
  • Links (with tracking and autologin support);
  • Localized content per language.

As shown in the configuration screen (page 3), templates are selected per language, ensuring players receive messages in the right context.

Personalization with Variables

Templates support dynamic placeholders such as:

{{1}} – tournament name;

{{2}} – bonus percentage.

These are mapped during setup using available variables, allowing you to create messages that feel personal without manual effort and support more effective personalized player communication.

Technical Setup (What You Actually Need)

To enable WhatsApp Activity, there’s a one-time setup process involving Meta (WhatsApp’s platform).

You’ll need:

  • Meta Developer account;
  • WhatsApp Business account (verified);
  • Approved message templates;
  • API credentials, including:
    • API token;
    • Phone Number ID;
    • WhatsApp Business Account ID.

These are configured via the WhatsApp API setup (shown on page 2) and connected to your platform through structured WhatsApp CRM integration.

Smart Link Handling and Tracking

One of the most powerful features is how links are handled.

You can configure:

  • Autologin – automatically log the player into your platform;
  • Shorten & Track – generate trackable short links.

This turns each message into a measurable interaction point.

For example:

  • A player receives a bonus message;
  • Clicks the link;
  • Lands directly in the sportsbook, already logged in.

This removes friction and improves conversion.

Message Control and Testing

Before going live, you can test messages directly from the CMS.

You can send test messages:

  • By Player ID;
  • By phone number.

You can also define:

  • Expiration time (how long the message is valid);
  • Target recipients;
  • Variable behavior.

The test configuration panel (page 4) ensures everything works as expected before launching campaigns.

Real-Time Feedback and Error Handling

Not every message will be delivered — and the system makes that transparent.

Common reasons for failure include:

  • Invalid phone number;
  • Incorrect URL format;
  • Player unsubscribed from WhatsApp;
  • Template not approved or changed.

These outcomes are logged in the Journey Log, giving you clear visibility into message performance and issues.

Versioning and Live Updates

WhatsApp Activity also supports message versioning, which is critical for live operations.

As shown on page 5:

  • You can update message content even after a journey is created;
  • Each update creates a new version;
  • Changes apply only after the journey is republished.

This allows you to refine messaging without disrupting active flows.

Designed for Real Campaigns

WhatsApp Activity is not just a messaging tool — it’s built for real business use cases:

Bonus Campaigns

Notify players about limited-time offers with direct links to betting pages.

Event-Driven Messaging

Send updates based on player actions or milestones.

Re-engagement

Bring inactive players back with personalized incentives through structured player reactivation campaigns.

Transactional Communication

Deliver confirmations, reminders, or status updates.

From Messaging to Strategy

What makes WhatsApp Activity powerful is the combination of:

  • Structured templates;
  • Real-time triggers;
  • Personalization;
  • Trackable interactions.

Instead of isolated messages, you get a cohesive communication system that connects directly to player behavior.

And when messaging is aligned with the player journey, it stops being noise - and starts driving results.
