Le Bandit

Le Bandit is a 6x5 cluster-pays video slot from Hacksaw Gaming, released in August 2023. Wins form from groups of five or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically. Two native mechanics carry the game. Super Cascades clear the winning cluster, along with all other symbols of the same type, from the grid. Golden Squares mark winning positions for a coin reveal later in the same spin. Volatility is rated 3 on Hacksaw's five-point scale, and the maximum potential win is 10,000x the stake.

The Original “Le” Title

The setting is a light-hearted Paris back-alley caper. Its star is Smokey Le Bandit, a crowbar-carrying raccoon with a weakness for leprechaun hats. The Irish-luck motifs do real work: the rainbows, four-leaf clovers, and pots of gold are the feature symbols themselves. Theme and mechanics explain each other, so the game is easy to present in a lobby tile or banner without a paragraph of rules.

Le Bandit also launched Hacksaw’s “Le” series, the cartoon line that has since expanded to include Le Pharaoh, Le Viking, Le King, Le Zeus, and many more. For a large share of players, it is the franchise’s reference point.

Le titles keep the cartoon presentation but rework the grid and features. Le Viking, for example, moves to a 15,625-ways layout. Hacksaw has also returned to the character directly with Le Bandit Hold & Win. Compared with its successors, the original has the fewest moving parts: a cluster grid, one board-clearing cascade rule, and one collection mechanic.

How Le Bandit Plays

Every base-game spin can run in two stages. First comes the cascade. When a cluster wins, the winning symbols disappear, and so does every other symbol of that type anywhere on the grid. New symbols drop into the gaps, and the sequence continues as long as new wins form. Removing an entire symbol type at once opens more space than a standard tumble, so cascade chains in Le Bandit tend to be long and visible even at medium volatility.

The second stage depends on the Rainbow. Each position that formed part of a win is marked with a Golden Square. If a Rainbow lands on the same spin, every marked square activates and reveals one of the following:

  • a Bronze Coin worth 0.2x to 4x the stake;
  • a Silver Coin worth 5x to 20x;
  • a Gold Coin worth up to 500x;
  • one of two special symbols.

Four-Leaf Clovers multiply adjacent cells, including Pots of Gold, by 2x to 10x. Pots of Gold then collect the value of every coin and every other Pot in view. Once the last Pot has collected, the Golden Squares reactivate for another round, and the process repeats.

The practical effect is that cascades build a map of marked positions, and the Rainbow decides whether that map pays. A long chain without a Rainbow returns only its cluster wins. The same chain with a Rainbow becomes a coin reveal across much of the board.

⚠️ This delayed payoff is the game’s identity and what players remember about Le Bandit.

Free Spins Tiers and Bonus Buy

The free-spins structure is a three-step ladder. Each step changes how the Golden Squares behave rather than simply adding spins.

Three FS symbols trigger Luck of the Bandit. In this round, Golden Squares remain marked between spins until a Rainbow activates them, allowing the grid to accumulate value over several spins before paying out. Retriggers add two spins for two FS symbols and three spins for three FS symbols. Landing four FS symbols during the round upgrades it to All That Glitters Is Gold, carrying over the remaining spins plus four more.

All That Glitters Is Gold can also trigger directly from four FS symbols in the base game, with 12 free spins. Here the Golden Squares stay marked for the entire round and can be activated again with every Rainbow. Each activation therefore pays across a progressively fuller grid.

Five FS symbols in the base game trigger Treasure at the End of the Rainbow, also with 12 spins. Squares persist throughout, and a Rainbow is guaranteed on every spin. This top tier cannot be purchased. The two lower tiers can be bought directly through the Bonus Buy menu, and BonusHunt FeatureSpins offer a middle option between standard play and a full purchase.

💡 The split matters for how the title is presented. The buyable tiers give Le Bandit a natural place in bonus-buy collections. The top tier can only be reached through play, which preserves a rare, recognizable event that purchase cannot shortcut.

Maximum win 10,000x 2,500x
Default RTP 96.34% 96.27%

Jackpots None Four fixed jackpot prizes, valued by current bet

Le Bandit Hold & Win keeps the character, the Rainbow, the Pot of Gold and Clover symbols, and the same volatility rating. Structurally, almost everything else changes. Wins come from paylines and from landing three or more Coins or Jackpot Markers. The bonus content consists of two Hold & Win rounds with three refilling lives. The second, Rainbow Epic Drop, starts with a full grid of special symbols and one Pot of Gold already in place.

💡 The two games share a brand but belong in different lobby categories. Le Bandit sits with cluster-pays and cascading slots; Hold & Win sits with respin and coin-collect titles.

Carrying both adds depth to a Le Bandit or Le series row without duplicating a mechanic. A player attached to Smokey but drawn to Hold & Win formats has a direct alternative, and the original keeps the higher 10,000x ceiling.

Where Le Bandit Fits in a Casino Lobby

That medium rating is what sets Le Bandit apart within its own catalog. While Hacksaw is best known for higher-volatility releases, Le Bandit runs a steadier math model while keeping the layered free-spins structure and buy options players associate with the studio.

Le Bandit is a title from the studio that does not ask a player to sit through the long gaps typical of its harder math models. That gives it a wider placement range than Hacksaw’s top-volatility releases. It can sit in a general slots feed as comfortably as in a provider row.

💡 Among cluster-pays games from other studios, its distinguishing feature is the Golden Squares and Rainbow pairing. Most cascade slots build value through growing multipliers. Le Bandit builds it through positions marked during the cascade and paid out by a separate trigger, which gives the base game a second, visible payout layer.

If your lobby already carries several later Le titles, Le Bandit is the anchor from which the series grew, and it belongs at the head of a franchise collection.

If it doesn’t, Le Bandit is the logical first Le title to add. Its two buyable tiers also make it a straightforward fit for a bonus-buy category, alongside its places in cluster-pays and Hacksaw collections.

Promoting Le Bandit

Le Bandit bonus features by Hacksaw Gaming, showing Shiny Coins, Triple Bonus and the 10,000x maximum win.

Le Bandit builds its bonus structure around Shiny Coins and three progressively stronger bonus games, with a maximum win of up to 10,000x the bet.

Le Bandit gives you several strong promo hooks to work with:

  • a single, easily shown moment when a Rainbow turns a marked grid into coins;
  • a three-tier bonus ladder with a top round that can only be triggered naturally;
  • a recognizable character;
  • a franchise that now spans a long list of titles.

GR8_TECH can build around these through two tools in particular. Our bonus engine supports Free Spins campaigns on slots. Le Bandit’s medium volatility makes it a reasonable title for a Free Spins grant to newer or more cautious players, who see the full cascade and Golden Squares loop without the extreme swings of Hacksaw’s harder games.

Our tournament engine supports win/bet ratio scoring alongside turnover-based formats, with real-time leaderboards and tournament segmentation. Scoring results relative to stake suits a game whose standout outcomes come from Pot of Gold collections and free-spins rounds, and it lets players compete across different bet levels on the same terms.

Integrating Le Bandit Through GR8_TECH

Le Bandit is available through GREAT_CASINO AGGREGATION alongside the wider Hacksaw Gaming catalog, using the same single API that connects operators to 250+ providers. We manage the provider-facing integration, communication, and licensing coordination required to deliver the content through our aggregation layer.

⚠️ You remain responsible for operating under the appropriate license in each target market and for ensuring the games and features you activate are permitted under that license.

Before launch, we align the available game build and configuration with the target market. For Le Bandit, that includes confirming the applicable RTP variant and whether features such as Bonus Buy and BonusHunt FeatureSpins can be offered. This removes the need for a separate technical integration with Hacksaw Gaming while keeping market-level regulatory responsibility where it belongs: with the licensed operator.
