Gates Of Olympus

Gates of Olympus is a 6×5 video slot from Pragmatic Play, released in February 2021. It pays on eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid and removes winning symbols through a tumble mechanic. It also adds random multiplier symbols worth 2x to 500x, in both the base game and Free Spins. During Free Spins, multipliers build a running total that applies to later wins in the round.

About Gates of Olympus

Gates of Olympus is a Greek mythology-themed slot, with Zeus positioned beside the reels. Pragmatic Play released it in February 2021.

⚠️ Gates of Olympus is the original title in Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus series. Every later edition is built on its grid, pay system and Free Spins structure.

The game uses six reels and five rows, with no paylines. A win forms when eight or more identical symbols land anywhere on the grid. Winning symbols are removed and replaced from above, and the new arrangement is evaluated again. Multiplier symbols can land on any spin or tumble. They have no payout of their own and only apply when the sequence they land in produces a win.

Three elements define the product structurally: count-based wins, tumbles that chain several wins into one spin, and additive multipliers that persist across Free Spins. The game has no wilds, no paylines and no jackpot.

Gates of Olympus is the origin of an extended franchise:

  • Gates of Olympus 1000 (December 2023) raises the multiplier range to 1,000x and the maximum win to 15,000x.
  • Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 (December 2024) is a seasonal version of the 1000 edition.
  • Gates of Olympus Super Scatter (April 2025) adds Super Scatter cash prizes and a 50,000x maximum win.
  • Gates of Olympus POP (August 2026) is a simplified edition.
  • Gates of Olympus 2500 (September 2026) offers multipliers up to 2,500x and four Free Spins modes.

For operators, the original is the reference point against which each later edition is measured.

Gates of Olympus Creator — Provider Pragmatic Play

Pragmatic Play was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Gibraltar. It is a multi-vertical supplier covering slots, live casino, crash games, arcade titles and other RNG content. In June 2026, the company announced it was winding down its sportsbook, including virtual sports, and its bingo product to concentrate on slots and live casino. Its slot output reaches up to nine new titles per month.

Pragmatic Play’s Play with Kevin campaign runs from October 19 to November 2, 2026, with players collecting letters across eligible slots and Live Casino games to unlock Free Chips.

Pragmatic Play’s highest-profile slots share one structural model: a 6×5 grid, scatter or cluster pays, tumbles, and multipliers that accumulate in a Free Spins round. Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, and Sugar Rush all follow this model. Gates of Olympus is the most extended franchise within it. It also belongs to Pragmatic Play’s wider set of Greek mythology titles, alongside Gates of Hades and Wisdom of Athena 1000.

Pragmatic Play delivers its games through a single API in 31 languages and 150+ currencies, with game availability configured per jurisdiction. The provider also runs its own promotional layer. Drops & Wins is a provider-funded network promotion. Enhance is a promotional toolset covering tournaments, prize drops, free spins and Replay.

Rules and Gameplay

Each spin in Gates of Olympus fills the 6×5 grid. Any symbol that appears eight or more times anywhere on the grid pays according to its count. Regular symbol payouts can reach up to 50x the bet before multipliers are applied.

Winning symbols are then removed. Remaining symbols drop down, new symbols fill the empty positions, and the grid is evaluated again. This tumble sequence continues until no new win forms.

Multiplier symbols can land on any spin or tumble. In the base game, all multiplier values on the grid at the end of a winning tumble sequence are added together. The total is then applied to the sequence’s total win.

The scatter symbol is Zeus. Four or more scatters anywhere on the grid trigger 15 Free Spins and pay 3x, 5x or 100x the total bet for four, five or six scatters.

Pros and Cons for Operators

Pros Cons/Considerations
The original title of one of Pragmatic Play’s best-known franchises, with high name recognition among slot players. The franchise now includes at least five further editions. Carrying several of them creates overlap within one brand.
A short rule set (count-based wins, tumbles, one Free Spins round) is easy to explain in lobby copy and campaign terms. It follows the same structure as other Pragmatic Play flagship slots, so it adds little mechanical variety if Sweet Bonanza or Sugar Rush are already live.
Multiplier symbols land in the base game as well as in Free Spins, giving campaign messaging a factual hook outside the bonus round. High volatility produces long runs of small or empty spins. It should not be the only option offered to low-risk player segments.
Ante Bet and Bonus Buy give players optional stake modes, which can be merchandised where permitted. Bonus Buy availability and maximum stakes depend on jurisdiction. Verify both per market before building a campaign around them.
Pragmatic Play’s provider-level tools (Drops & Wins, Enhance) are available in addition to platform promotional tools. Pragmatic Play sets title eligibility for each provider campaign, so it must be confirmed on a per-season and per-market basis.
The 5,000x ceiling gives the title a defined, lower-ceiling position within a franchise collection. Players seeking higher maximum win potential may prefer the 1000, Super Scatter, or 2500 editions.

Pay Anywhere, Tumble and Multiplier Mechanics

Gates of Olympus evaluates wins by the number of symbols. A spin pays when eight or more identical symbols are visible, wherever they sit. Every tumble creates a fresh grid, which is evaluated under the same rule, so a single paid spin can produce several consecutive wins.

Multipliers are the second layer. A multiplier symbol carries a random value from 2x to 500x but pays nothing on its own. In the base game, the values on the grid at the end of a winning sequence are summed, not multiplied. A 10x and a 25x symbol produce a 35x multiplier on that sequence’s total win. A multiplier that lands during a sequence with no win has no effect.

This interaction defines the game’s mathematical profile.

💡Large outcomes require two independent events to coincide: a winning tumble sequence and at least one high-value multiplier. Most spins resolve with small wins or none, and a smaller share of sequences produces outcomes far above the stake. That pattern is what the high volatility classification describes.

The commercially relevant differentiator is that multipliers are active in the base game. A player can reach a large outcome without triggering Free Spins, which makes the base game a legitimate subject of factual messaging in addition to the bonus round.

All winnings are capped at 5,000x the bet.

Free Spins, Ante Bet and Bonus Buy

Native game features

Free Spins. Four or more scatters award 15 Free Spins. During the feature, every multiplier symbol that lands on a winning spin adds its value to a total multiplier. That total applies to the current win and stays in place for the rest of the round, so later wins can be multiplied by the accumulated value. Three or more scatters during the feature award five additional Free Spins, and the feature can be retriggered.

Ante Bet. An optional mode that raises the stake by 25% and doubles the chance of triggering Free Spins. It changes the cost per spin and the trigger frequency, not the game’s rules.

Bonus Buy. Players can buy direct entry to Free Spins for 100x the total bet. Availability depends on jurisdiction, and the feature is not supplied in every market.

Provider-level features

Pragmatic Play controls the game’s RTP configurations and its provider-funded promotions. Drops & Wins runs seven daily tournaments per week, ranked by the sum of win multipliers, plus a Weekly Wheel Drop awarded for collecting wheel pieces during normal play. Pragmatic Play also offers the Enhance toolset for tournaments, prize drops and free spins. Pragmatic Play decides which titles take part in each campaign.

Operator- and platform-level capabilities

Free Spins bonuses granted by an operator, tournaments, leaderboards, CRM journeys and lobby placement are not features of Gates of Olympus. They are built into the casino platform and run on top of the game. The section on casino promotions below covers how they apply to this title.

Gates of Olympus & Its Sequels

The Gates of Olympus franchise now extends well beyond straightforward slot sequels, with Dice editions, cross-vertical adaptations, and other branch-outs built around the same core IP. Greek mythology is also used extensively across Pragmatic Play’s wider catalog, so a complete family tree would add more clutter than value.

Collage of Gates of Olympus and its main sequels, including Gates of Olympus 1000, X-Mas 1000, Super Scatter, POP, and 2500.

What began as a single Zeus-themed slot has grown into a full franchise.

Here, we focus on the main slot sequels and compare what each one actually changes and the role it can play in an operator’s portfolio.

Title Core format/

defining change

Player proposition Portfolio role Operator consideration
Gates of Olympus Baseline 6×5 Pay Anywhere format, tumbles, multipliers up to 500x and 5,000x maximum win The original version of the multiplier-driven Gates formula Franchise anchor and evergreen title Provides the reference point for the entire series. Later versions should be judged by how much additional value they create beyond this core experience.
Gates of Olympus 1000 Raises multipliers from 500x to 1,000x and maximum win from 5,000x to 15,000x while retaining the same core game structure Familiar gameplay with a substantially higher ceiling Higher-potential upgrade to the original Very high mechanical overlap with the original. Its main purpose in a portfolio is to offer an escalated version rather than a genuinely different game.
Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 Applies a Christmas theme to the 1000 edition while retaining its 1,000x multipliers, 15,000x maximum win, and core Free Spins structure A seasonal version of an already familiar game Holiday and year-end rotation Adds little permanent mechanical diversity. Its value is primarily seasonal, making it better suited to temporary collections and Christmas campaigns than permanent premium placement.
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter Adds Super Scatters that award 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x when the bonus triggers; maximum win rises to 50,000x A new high-impact trigger layered onto the familiar Gates mechanics High-ceiling, feature-led alternative One of the clearer reasons to carry another Gates title alongside the original because it introduces a distinct outcome mechanic rather than simply increasing multiplier values.
Gates of Olympus POP Rebuilds the game on a streamlined 3×5 portrait grid, increases multipliers to 1,000x, and adds Spark and Burst jackpot symbols worth 500x and 25,000x Faster, simpler Gates gameplay designed for more casual and newer slot players Streamlined alternative for a different player segment The strongest departure from the standard franchise template. It can broaden the IP’s role rather than compete directly with another 6×5 Gates variant.
Gates of Olympus 2500 Raises multipliers to 2,500x and introduces four Free Spins modes, including Super variants with higher minimum multipliers; maximum win reaches 25,000x More bonus choice and a more feature-heavy version of the core game Advanced, feature-rich franchise extension Still built around the familiar 6×5 Pay Anywhere and tumble model, but the expanded bonus structure gives operators more differentiation than a simple increase in win potential.

Portfolio Fit

Whether Gates of Olympus adds something new depends on what the lobby already carries. The slot contributes two elements:

  • Base-game multipliers
  • Running Free Spins multiplier, attached to a brand players recognize

Its grid, pay system, and tumble structure are already present in other Pragmatic Play flagship slots.

⚠️ An operator seeking mechanical diversity will not find it in this title and should source mechanics from other studios.

The Franchise Question

Carrying the original and the 1000 edition creates a clear two-step ladder, with the same rules and maximum wins of 5,000x and 15,000x. Super Scatter introduces a different trigger hook, and 2500 introduces mode selection.

💡 Each further edition adds less new mechanical content than the previous one while taking more lobby space. Base the choice on segment data and available placements, not on the number of editions available.

Theme is also a related consideration. Greek mythology is a crowded category, including within Pragmatic Play’s own catalog. Lobby collections should separate the Gates of Olympus franchise from the provider’s wider Greek-themed titles, so that players can identify each version.

Using Gates of Olympus in Casino Promotions

Franchise collection. Group the original with the sequels the operator carries in one lobby collection. List each title by role, with factual labels such as maximum win and multiplier range, so players can see how the editions differ. The collection and its display rules are platform-level tools. The game supplies only the facts the labels describe.

Free Spins campaigns. Operator-granted Free Spins are fixed-stake spins issued by the platform’s bonus engine. They are not the game’s Free Spins feature, and campaign terms and copy should keep the two clearly separate. With a high-volatility title, a small Free Spins package will yield widely varying results among recipients, so set the package size and messaging accordingly.

💡 Confirm with GR8_TECH whether the provider free rounds are supported for this title in the deployed configuration before launch.

Tournaments and leaderboards. A tournament on Gates of Olympus is a platform layer. The game’s multiplier structure determines how scoring models behave. A win/bet ratio model rewards individual outcomes multiplied by the bet, while a turnover model rewards stake volume. Tournament rules should explicitly state whether Ante Bet stakes and Bonus Buy purchases count, and how the bet on a bought feature is measured.

Provider network promotions. Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins daily tournaments rank players by the sum of win multipliers, which matches this game’s multiplier mechanics. Eligibility is set by the provider for each season and market.

CRM journeys. Players can be segmented by title or franchise preference. Journeys can then introduce the 1000 or Super Scatter edition to original players, or bring lapsed players back to a title they already know. Quests and achievements tied to play on the title can be configured as gamification on top.

Factual messaging. “Multipliers up to 500x” and “maximum win of 5,000x the bet” are accurate claims. Present them as maximum potential, never as expected outcomes, and keep them consistent with the deployed build.

Bonus Buy merchandising. Only where the feature is legally available and supplied in the deployed build. Feature-led campaigns must be checked against local promotional rules.

Seasonal rotation. Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 covers the year-end seasonal slot. The original can stay in evergreen placements without a themed refresh.
