About your key responsibilities and impact:

  • Implementing and maintaining a classification system for data, including developing policies and procedures for data classification;
  • Identifying potential security risks to data and developing strategies to mitigate those risks;
  • Monitoring the use of classified data to ensure compliance with policies and procedures;
  • Conducting audits of data systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommending strategies to address those vulnerabilities;
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that all data is classified appropriately and that security measures are in place to protect that data;
  • Keeping up to date with emerging threats, technologies, and best practices related to data classification and security. 

Essential professional experience:

  • 2+ years of experience as IT security analyst;
  • Experience with data classification (experience in developing and implementing data classification policies and procedures);
  • Good understanding of data security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR;
  • Experience with DLP tools, which are used to monitor and prevent the unauthorized transmission of sensitive data;
  • Good understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for data protection, including GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS. 

Desirable skills and personal features:

  • Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze data flows, identify sensitive information, and determine appropriate classification levels;
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including technical and non-technical staff;
  • Attention to detail – capability to pay close attention to details, as even minor errors in data classification can have serious consequences for data security.
